Rental terms

These are the terms on which we advertise and take bookings for our cars. The full rental agreement, which you sign when you collect the car, sets out the detail — nothing in it will contradict what is on this page.

Who you are dealing with

A request is not yet a booking

Sending the form on this site is a request, not a confirmed reservation. Nothing is charged and no car is held until we reply and confirm the dates, the car and the price in writing. That written confirmation is the point at which a contract exists between us.

Prices

Prices are in euro, per day, and depend on how long you keep the car — from the third day the daily rate drops:

  • Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet — €490 per day for one to two days, €349 per day from three days.
  • Porsche Panamera — €825 per day for one to two days, €629 per day from three days.
  • Lotus Eletre — €1,200 per day for one to two days, €865 per day from three days.

A day means a 24-hour period from the time you collect the car. A part day counts as a day. The price we confirm in writing is the price you pay; we do not change it afterwards.

Mileage

Unlimited, on all three cars. Malta and Gozo are both yours, and there is no excess-mileage charge to watch for.

Security deposit

A deposit is pre-authorised on your card when you collect the car. It is held against the card, not taken from it, and the hold is released when the car comes back as it left. The amount depends on the car:

  • Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet — €7,500
  • Porsche Panamera — €9,800
  • Lotus Eletre — €23,000

The card must be a credit or debit card in the name of the person hiring, and it must have that amount available for the hold. It is worth checking with your bank before you travel.

Who can drive

  • Drivers must be 25 or over. We do not rent to drivers under 25, whatever the licence history.
  • A full driving licence held for at least two years, plus a passport or national ID card, shown at collection.
  • Only drivers named on the rental agreement may drive the car. Anyone else at the wheel voids the cover.

Collection and return

Cars are collected at Malta International Airport, Luqa. Tell us your flight number and we will track it, so a delay does not cost you the booking. Return is at the same place, at the time agreed. If you need longer, tell us before the return time and we will extend it if the car is free.

Insurance and excess

Every car is insured for use in Malta and Gozo by drivers named on the agreement. The cover that applies, and the excess you would be liable for in the event of damage, are set out in the rental agreement you sign at collection. Ask us before you book if you would like the figures in advance — we would rather you knew.

Looking after the car

  • The car stays in Malta and Gozo, and on public roads.
  • No racing, track use, driving lessons, towing, or carrying goods for hire.
  • The car is returned with the same fuel or charge level it left with.
  • You are responsible for traffic fines, congestion or parking charges, and tolls incurred while the car is with you, along with an administration fee if we have to handle them on your behalf.

If your plans change

Tell us as soon as you know. Nothing is charged at the request stage, so an enquiry can simply be dropped. Once a booking is confirmed, the cancellation terms are the ones set out in that written confirmation.

If something goes wrong

Call us. Every rental includes roadside assistance, and the number is on the rental agreement and in the car. In an accident, call the police first, do not admit liability, and let us know straight away.

Complaints, law and jurisdiction

If you are unhappy with anything, email hello@luxedrivemalta.com and we will deal with it. These terms are governed by Maltese law, and the Maltese courts have jurisdiction. Nothing here affects the rights you have as a consumer under Maltese and EU consumer law.
